Bargain window tint may seem like a good deal at first, but the results rarely last. Bubbling, purple discoloration, and edges that start to lift are telltale signs of poor film or an inexperienced install. Our technicians work with premium XPEL products and trusted installation techniques to deliver a clean finish that stays looking great for the long run.
We make the process easy with 3 simple steps to get your car in and out quickly.
If you have spent a summer in Waxhaw, NC, you know how quickly a parked car turns into an oven. Quality auto window tint blocks solar heat before it builds up inside your cabin, so every trip feels cooler and more comfortable.
Our CLEAR CERAMIC HEAT REJECTION FILM is fully compliant with North Carolina tint regulations and does not compromise your visibility. We follow all current NC laws, including the 35% VLT requirement on front side windows and the updated rules that went into effect in December 2025.
Research shows that skin cancer develops more frequently on the left side of the body, the side nearest the driver’s window and most exposed to sunlight on the road. The Skin Cancer Foundation recognizes XPEL PRIME XR & XR Plus Window Tint as an effective shield against harmful UV rays while driving.
Window tint shades are rated by VLT (Visible Light Transmission), which measures the percentage of light that passes through the film. The lower the VLT number, the darker the shade. We carry a full range of tint shades that comply with North Carolina’s legal limits.
CERAMIC PARTICLE TECHNOLOGYXPEL PRIME XR & XR Plus feature advanced ceramic particles that filter the sun's infrared radiation. They outlast and outperform traditional metallized or dyed films in both durability and heat rejection.
SUPERIOR HEAT REJECTIONThe ceramic particle technology in our films blocks the majority of the sun's heat-causing infrared energy, keeping your cabin cooler and putting less demand on your air conditioning.
CRYSTAL CLEAR SIGNALUnlike older metallized films, our nano-ceramic technology will not disrupt your radio, cellular, or Bluetooth signals. Your connectivity stays strong regardless of the shade you choose.
UV RAY PROTECTIONBeyond heat rejection, the ceramic particles in our films block harmful UV radiation, giving your skin and your car's interior stronger protection than standard metallized or dyed window films.
Crafted with nano-ceramic construction, PRIME XR Ceramic Film delivers crystal-clear clarity and a clean finish that holds up for years while rejecting up to 88% of infrared heat.
Driven by multi-layer nanoparticle technology, PRIME XR PLUS automotive window tint combines a bold, dark appearance with the highest level of heat rejection on the market.
If top-tier heat rejection is not your priority, XPEL PRIME CS is a solid choice. It still blocks 99% of harmful UV rays and delivers color-stable, glare-reducing performance that will not fade, crack, peel, or turn purple over time.
Think about the last time you tried putting a screen protector on your phone and wound up with tiny dust specks and air bubbles trapped underneath.
Now picture that same frustration stretched across your car’s windshield and windows.
At Sun Stoppers Window Tinting, dust, bubbles, and uneven edges are issues you will never have to worry about.
Over 150,000 window tint installations have allowed us to refine every step of the process, so every vehicle that rolls out of our shop has a clean, flawless finish.
That is why Sun Stoppers is the world’s largest XPEL window tint dealer, and why drivers across Waxhaw and the Charlotte area trust us with their cars.
A properly installed tint should have no more than a 1/16th of an inch gap at the very most, though it should be tighter than that. At Sun Stoppers, our professional installers achieve a zero light gap, even on frameless doors.
Window tint on its own does not directly improve gas mileage. But it does help regulate the temperature inside your car. When you rely less on your air conditioning, you can see a difference in fuel efficiency. This is especially true for electric vehicles like Teslas, where less AC use helps preserve battery life and extend driving range.
North Carolina requires front side windows on passenger vehicles to allow at least 35% VLT (Visible Light Transmission). SUVs, vans, and trucks have no restriction on rear and back windows but must still meet 35% on the front sides. Reflectivity cannot exceed 20%, and red, amber, and yellow tints are not allowed. You can learn more about North Carolina tint laws here.

If you call Waxhaw home, you already know this town punches well above its weight. Sitting about 23 miles southeast of Charlotte in Union County, Waxhaw has the feel of a small town with big-city convenience just up the road. There is no shortage of things to see and do around here, including:
Whether you are hiking at Cane Creek on a Saturday morning or browsing the downtown shops, Waxhaw has something for just about everyone.
The town takes its name from the Waxhaw Native Americans who originally called this area home. It was chartered in 1889, making it the third-oldest town in Union County. President Andrew Jackson is believed to have been born near Waxhaw in 1767, and you can still find historical markers around town that trace his early roots in the region.
The railroad arrived in 1888 and played a major role in shaping the town. Those tracks still run right through the heart of downtown today. By the 1960s, Waxhaw had earned a reputation as a go-to spot for antique collectors, and that identity has stuck. The Waxhaw Historic District sits on the National Register of Historic Places and remains one of the most recognized landmarks in the area.
Waxhaw covers about 11.5 square miles. According to the 2020 Census, the population stood at 20,534, which was more than double what it was in 2010. Recent estimates place it above 23,000, making it one of the fastest-growing communities in the Charlotte metro.
Sun Stoppers is proud to serve Waxhaw, NC, zip code 28173, and the surrounding neighborhoods and communities.
