Hurst is a suburb of Dallas and Fort Worth, and is part of the mid-cities region. It is located in the densely populated northeastern portion of Tarrant County and surrounded by the communities of Bedford, Euless, Fort Worth, Richland Hills, North Richland Hills, Grapevine, and Colleyville.
Pioneers were settling what is now Hurst by the middle or late 1840s. The town was eventually named Hurst after William L. Hurst, who moved there from Tenessee and donated land in exchange for the establishment of a depot named after him.
